A Quick Reflection

As I compose this write, I'm a bit stuffy with a cold that has been going around. And yes in the other lands of media you did see me at a football game yesterday. Nonetheless today is going to be a humble day of cleaning, reflection and goal setting. You see this past year has been pretty good with getting the the lay of the land and new state. Last January  we moved into our new house and set up the basics of the homestead. Jobs were attained, everyday living happened. I did fall into bad habits as well and need to get back on track. Sobriety a few days short of 5 years was ruined at the end of last December and I have been drinking since, that has got to change. Bad food consumption and lack of exercise has made me unwell in my mind, body, and spirit. I'm turning 39 in 2 days and want to start the journey back to wellness today. Let's set intentions tonight and be diligent with wishes that serve us well. Salud to the New Year! Brightest Blessings to you all.

Yule At Celestial Pines

Merry Solstice/ Yule salutations to all who visit my cyber home. The door is wide open and I invite you in to cozy up and enjoy the tidings of the season in my hearth and on the homestead. Today will celebrated by a sacred cleansing of the home, time spent with nature, and  family togetherness at night. Ohh and tonight is also the great gingerbread house throw down! Before winter break fully commences I want to share some of our holiday home.

Que Pasa Calabaza

Pumpkins in December? Yes, I finally got around to taking them off of the porch and into the kitchen. In October for Halloween I purchased these table top pumpkins for $2.98 each at H.E.B. To the tune of Jazzy Christmas tunes playing in the background I cut these orange beauties in half. These pumpkins are so full of flesh and had three seeds sprouting already. I promptly put the sprouts into  soil pots to see what develops later. The rest of the seeds I coated in coconut oil, sprinkled with cinnamon and a bit of sugar to roast with the pumpkin halves.

I recently purchased a glass pie dish, in which I can make my own crust instead of buying graham cracker ones. I made an almond flour crust from WholesomeYum's recipe, and the Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake recipe I used can be found at All Recipes.Com. We will  enjoy this dessert after {L}'s Winter Band concert tonight and before we hang up our stockings!

The Pups

On 10/10 our girl Gypsy gave birth to a litter of eight puppies. Unfortunately only three survived. The time has come to give them their forever homes, bittersweet. These pups definitely get their coat from their dad , whom I suspect is the dog across the street๐Ÿ˜. It has been a pleasure for the most part being their pack leader Grand Dogmother.

Say hello to Lulu Bear, Mancha, and Guero.

Of Stars & Scars

We are stars wrapped in skin, the light you are looking for has always been within - Rumi

The body is a map of history with stories along the way just as  the constellations in the sky. Perhaps when our light becomes so intense at times our luminosity must burst through. Or perhaps there are moments in life when we are no longer bright and darkness must be removed. The evidence of emergence results in scars. The scars then become undulations on the map that show the trails of what we've been and compass our celestial being to continue to journey forth. As above, so below, forevermore we shall glow.

This art collage was created using one of my outdated Witches' Calender's by Llewellyn. Crafted under the influence of the Hunter's Full Moon  in Taurus, and just in time for the blog party.

* As we let our flames burn bright let's also remember to let our beautiful freak flags fly. Life has a tendency to put us through the ringer from time to time ,but here we all are collectively sharing our beautiful madness, we're all stars now of the freak show!Click the banner to be transported to the party realm!

Calaca Love

As my witchy cinnamon broom above my front door suggest welcome to my contribution to Marfi-topia's Haunted Humpday. I've been dying to display and show off the skully jewelry I've been creating. The earring set is part of the purple skull set. I already posted these Frida inspired box top heads in a previous post but this is all about calaca love so I wanted to share them again. Fall is pressumed to be the settle down cozy time but around here my schedule has taken on many new tasks. Can I get a hip hip huzzah, I was hired at a magical Artisan Fantasy Portrait Shop inside the Texas Renaissance Festival!

Fall Flower Power

If you follow the earth and its patterns as do the people of the old ways, fall is here. The calender in my book does not predict the change of seasons but as the witch in me would say the turn of the wheel. Here in my neck of the woods even though it is still 90 degrees and humid, the leaves are changing their hue and falling. Varieties of bugs, birds, and their songs are of a different rhythm, things are starting to shift. I can actually say in mid September that I survived my first Texas summer. I am ready to change the indoor decor to reflect the outdoor atmosphere and the new moon in Virgo has me creating and crafting.

All of these items used to craft are Dollar Tree finds except for the vine wreaths which I hooped from my yard. The Calaveras { skull heads} are actually tops to boxes, a few flowers and wallah ode to Frida! Almost had a panic attack when I couldn't find my glue gun when inspiration sparked. I hung the crafts on the wall to take photos and the Hubby said he loved the color and ambiance. So for now they will be left up in the dining room and front door unless a booth or craft  fair opportunity arises then I will sell the handicrafts. On a recent tromp through the Renaissance grounds I spied many gypsy carts and told the Hubby to check out the structure of them in hopes he will one day build me one to sell my wares . He is after all my Renaissance man in the respect that he can build and create anything he puts his mind to. All in due time as the saying goes. What creative projects and endeavours are blowin your way?

Sneak peek at the Tex Ren Grounds

So this weekend I ventured out and did a little something different than usual, I went to the Texas Renaissance Festival job fair. It was very exciting to learn that when I moved here to my new town that it wasn't very far from one of the biggest Renaissance festivals in the U.S. Although no call backs have been received on a position at the fair I'm excited to show you a little sneak peek of the grounds.

I wish I had brought my camera to get better pics but all I had was my Metro phone. Hopefully I will be attending this year to bring you live views of the fair. If you are inclined check out Texas Renaissance for more details. Now I'm off to do some Fall crafting, I feel the urge to change the indoor decor sooner than I expected.
